الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَدَّ عَلَيَّ رُوحِي، وَعَافَانِي فِي جَسَدِي، وَأَذِنَ لِي بِذِكْرِهِ
Remember my brother/sister, the etiquette and supplications on awakening from sleep, making ablution and praying. Supplication on waking up Praise be to Allāh, Who has given us life after causing us to die, and to Him is our return. Praise be to Allāh Who has returned my soul, given strength to my body, and allowed me to remember Him.
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي خَلَقَ النَّوْمَ وَالْيَقَظَةَ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَلَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي
There is no god but Allāh alone, He has no partner; to Him belongs all authority and to Him belongs all praise; and He has power over all things. Praise be to Allāh Who has created sleep and wakefulness. All praise is for Allah. Glory be to Allah. There is no god but Allah. Allah is the Greatest. There is no ability to change from one state to another, nor any strength, except by Allah. O Allah, forgive me.
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي بَعَثَنِي سَالِمًا سَوِيًّا، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Praise be to Allāh Who has revived me with a sound and healthy body. I bear witness that Allāh gives life to the dead, and He has power over all things.
أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْعَظَمَةُ وَالسُّلطَانُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْعِزَّةُ وَالْقُدْرَةُ لِلَّهِ. أَصْبَحْنَا عَلَى فِطْرَةِ الْإِسْلَامِ، وَعَلَى كَلِمَةِ الْإِخْلَاصِ وَعَلَى دِينِ نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَى مِلَّةِ أَبِينَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَنِيفًا مُسْلِمًا، وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِين
We have entered a new day, and all sovereignty belongs to Allāh, as do all greatness and authority, all might and all power. We have entered a new day with the natural disposition of Islam, and the absolute word of faith, and the religion of Muḥammad, may the blessings and peace of Allāh be upon him, and the religion of our father Ibrāhīm, who is pure in faith and submission, and who never associated partners with Allāh.
اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا وَبِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا، وَبِكَ نَحْيَا وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ النُّشُورُ
O Allāh! By You do we live to morning, and by You do we live to evening. By You do we live, and by You do we die; and to You is our return.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَبْعَثَنَا فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ إِلَى كُلِّ خَيْر، وَنَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ نَجْتَرِحَ فِيهِ سُوءًا، أَوْ نَجُرَّهُ إِلَى مُسْلِم، أَوْ يَجُرَّهُ أَحَدٌ إِلَيْنَا
O Allāh! We ask You to direct us toward all that is good this day. And we seek refuge with You from doing any evil deeds during it, or causing others harm, or that anyone causes us harm.
نَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ وَخَيْرَ مَا فِيهِ، وَنَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ وَشَرِّ مَا فِيهِ
We ask You for the good of this day and all the good it holds, and we seek refuge in You from its evil and all the evil it contains. Then recite the last verses of Surah Aal Imran:
أَعُوْذُ باِللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيْمِ
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
‏﴿ إِنَّ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱخْتِلَـٰفِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ ۝ ٱلَّذِينَ يَذْكُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ قِيَـٰمًا وَقُعُودًا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِهِمْ وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَـٰذَا بَـٰطِلًا سُبْحَـٰنَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ ۝ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ مَن تُدْخِلِ ٱلنَّارَ فَقَدْ أَخْزَيْتَهُۥ ۖ وَمَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَارٍ ۝ رَّبَّنَآ إِنَّنَا سَمِعْنَا مُنَادِيًا يُنَادِى لِلْإِيمَـٰنِ أَنْ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَـَٔامَنَّا ۚ رَبَّنَا فَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَكَفِّرْ عَنَّا سَيِّـَٔاتِنَا وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ ۝ رَبَّنَا وَءَاتِنَا مَا وَعَدتَّنَا عَلَىٰ رُسُلِكَ وَلَا تُخْزِنَا يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ ٱلْمِيعَادَ ۝ فَٱسْتَجَابَ لَهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ أَنِّى لَآ أُضِيعُ عَمَلَ عَـٰمِلٍ مِّنكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ ۖ بَعْضُكُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍ ۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ وَأُخْرِجُوا۟ مِن دِيَـٰرِهِمْ وَأُوذُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِى وَقَـٰتَلُوا۟ وَقُتِلُوا۟ لَأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَلَأُدْخِلَنَّهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ثَوَابًا مِّنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عِندَهُۥ حُسْنُ ٱلثَّوَابِ ۝ لَا يَغُرَّنَّكَ تَقَلُّبُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ ۝ مَتَـٰعٌ قَلِيلٌ ثُمَّ مَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۚ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمِهَادُ ۝ لَـٰكِنِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ رَبَّهُمْ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا نُزُلًا مِّنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لِّلْأَبْرَارِ ۝ وَإِنَّ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَمَن يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ خَـٰشِعِينَ لِلَّهِ لَا يَشْتَرُونَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۗ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ ۝ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱصْبِرُوا۟ وَصَابِرُوا۟ وَرَابِطُوا۟ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ ﴾‏
The TAHAJJUD PRAYER starts with: • Two short raka‛āt. In the FIRST RAKAʽAH, after Sūrah al-Fātiḥah recite:
‏﴿ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذ ظَّلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ جَآءُوكَ فَٱسْتَغْفَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا ﴾‏
If they, when they have wronged their own souls, come to you and ask forgiveness of Allāh, and the Messenger asks forgiveness for them, they would certainly find Allāh Accepting of repentance, Most Merciful. [Sūrah Al-Nisā’ (4), Verse 64]
أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ (3)
I ask Allāh’s forgiveness (3 times) - Then recite: Sūrah al-Kāfirūn In the SECOND RAKAʽAH, after Sūrah al-Fātiḥah recite:
‏﴿ وَمَن يَعْمَلْ سُوٓءًا أَوْ يَظْلِمْ نَفْسَهُۥ ثُمَّ يَسْتَغْفِرِ ٱللَّهَ يَجِدِ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا ﴾‏
If anyone commits an evil deed or has been unjust to his soul, but afterwards asks Allāh for forgiveness, he will find Allāh Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [Sūrah Al-Nisā’ (4), Verse 110] - Then recite: Sūrah Al-Ikhlāṣ Say afterwards:
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ (10) الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ (10) سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ (10) سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ (10) أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ (10) لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ (10)، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ ضِيقِ الدُّنْيَا وَضِيقِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ (10)
Allāh is the Greatest (10 times); All praise be to Allāh (10 times); Glory and praise be to Allāh (10 times); Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy (10 times); I ask Allāh’s forgiveness (10 times); There is no god but Allāh (10 times); O Allāh! I seek refuge in You from the distress of this world, and the distress of the Day of Judgement. (10 times).
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، سُبْحَانَكَ، أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِذَنْبِي، وَأَسْأَلُكَ رَحْمَتَكَ، اللَّهُمَّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا، وَلَا تُزِغْ قَلْبِي بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيتَنِي، وَهَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ
There is no god but You alone. Glory be to You; forgive my sins; I beseech Your mercy. O Allāh, increase me in knowledge, and do not let my heart deviate after You have guided me to the Truth, and grant me Your mercy; You are the Bestower of Gifts. The following can be part of your adhkar:
اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ قَيِّمُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ، وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ لَكَ مُلكُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ، وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ نُورُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ، وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ مَلِكُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ، وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ الْحَقُّ، وَوَعْدُكَ الْحَقُّ، وَلِقَاؤُكَ حَقٌّ، وَقَوْلُكَ حَقٌّ، وَالْجَنَّةُ حَقٌّ، وَالنَّارُ حَقٌّ، وَالنَّبِيُّونَ حَقٌّ، وَمُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَقٌّ، وَالسَّاعَةُ حَقٌّ
O Allah! All praise is for You; You are the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and whatever is in them. All praise is for You; You are the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is in them. All praise is for You; You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and whatever is in them. All the praises are for You; You are the Sovereign of the heavens and the earth and whatever is in them. You are the Real One, and Your promise is real, and the meeting with You is real, Your Word is real, Paradise is real, and the Hellfire is real, and all the Prophets (peace be upon them) are real, and Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is real, and the Day of Resurrection is real.
اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ، وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ، وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْتُ، وَبِكَ خَاصَمْتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ حَاكَمْتُ، فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَمَا أَخَّرْتُ وَمَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ، أَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّمُ، وَأَنْتَ الْمُؤَخِّرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
O Allah, to You I submit, in You I believe, in You I put my trust, to You I turn in repentance, and with Your Help I contend my adversaries, and to You I refer my case. Forgive me for my past and future sins, what I have done secretly and what I have done openly. You are the One Who advances and delays. There is no god but You.
